License terms
These terms apply to Basalt, Slate, and Quartz (“the apps”) by [provider, see imprint]. Purchases are made from our reseller, whose terms of sale apply to the purchase itself.
1. What you get
- A license lets you use the apps it names, in the major version it names (for example 1.x), on up to three computers that you own or control.
- It does not expire and includes every update of that major version. A later major version may be offered as a paid upgrade.
- Licenses are personal. A business may buy licenses for its staff; each license still covers three computers.
2. Trial
Each app can be used free of charge with all features for its trial period (7 or 14 days). After that, it needs a license.
3. Activation
Activation needs an internet connection once. The app confirms the license about once a week when online and keeps working for 45 days without a connection. You can deactivate a computer in the app or on the license page at any time.
4. What you may not do
- share, resell, or publish your license key, or use it on more computers than it covers;
- circumvent the license check;
- redistribute the apps, except as allowed by the licenses of included open-source components.
5. Open-source components
The apps include or download open-source software, including FFmpeg (LGPL/GPL). Those components remain under their own licenses; [link to the third-party notices shipped with each app].
6. Refunds
See the refund policy. A refunded license is deactivated.
7. Warranty and liability
[Warranty and liability clause under German law for consumers and businesses; to be written with legal advice.]
8. Law
German law applies, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence. [review]
