desktop app / footage
Slate
Make footage behave in your editor.
Phone clips with variable frame rate, screen recordings, interlaced tapes, 24 fps footage padded to 60: Slate turns awkward video into editing-safe copies for Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and Final Cut, or into copies that play anywhere, and checks every copy afterwards.
01 / interface

02 / what it does
Slate, in six parts.
Windows 10 or later, macOS 11 or later (universal), or a 64-bit Linux desktop.
Understands timing
Detects variable frame rate, interlacing, and footage padded into a higher frame rate, and only recovers the original cadence when the pattern is certain.
Profiles for editing
Recommended, Fast (NVIDIA NVENC), Compact (HEVC 10-bit), Edit master (ProRes 422 LT), Alpha master (ProRes 4444), or Remux only.
Copies to share
Share in H.264 or HEVC for messengers, phones, browsers, and upload sites. HDR from phones and cameras becomes standard range, so it no longer looks washed out on ordinary screens.
See before you encode
A frame from every file, and the frames behind each timing verdict drawn out: which only repeat the one before, where the spacing breaks. Then the decision, the encoder, and the exact FFmpeg command.
Verified copies
Every output is read back afterwards and checked against the plan for duration and frame rate. A partial file is never reported as done.
Live system load
Progress and ETA per file, with CPU, memory, and NVIDIA GPU load while it works.
History and recovery
A report of every run, and an unfinished queue comes back after a crash or restart.
